"Healing for Children from Addicted Families"
Jerry Moe is Director of Children's Programs at the Betty Ford Center , Rancho Mirage, California. He is also an Advisory Board Member of the National Association for Children of Alcoholics. He received the 2005 Honours Recovery Award from the Johnson Institute, the 2000 Ackerman/Black Award from National Association for the Children of Alcoholics, and in 1993 he was awarded the Marty Mann Award for outstanding communication in the alcoholism and addiction field.
The following programme was recorded on May 11, 2006 by Rowdy Yates of the University of Stirling in Scotland. It is a talk by Jerry Moe entitled "Healing for Children from Addicted Families", and was part of the University of Stirling's Scottish Addiction Studies, Department of Applied Social Science, Research Seminar Series.
In this talk and its accompanying PowerPoint presentation, Jerry Moe discusses his work with the children of people with alcohol and drug problems, and shows that not only can sensitive interventions help children to understand and deal with problems, but that healing the hurt which is often done to these children can also provide triggers to improved recovery in the parents.
