A stage scattered with books and a big, bald man at the front with a pint of Guinness and a Jack Daniels chaser coming at you like the hulking offspring of an Oxford don and a baptist preacher. A mix of poetry, blues, gospel and storytelling which has been on the road in the British Isles and America and at Literature and Blues Festivals in the UK.
suggested £15 or other donation
includes light refreshment and a drink
Steve talks and sings about his life growing up as a kid in a religious cult in Chicago, his life as a bouncer, musician, poet and performer, and as an American making his life in England with the music and poetry, myths and legends of the heroes of American Jazz and Blues. Look out for Harlem style jazz poems/songs, a_capella Gospel songs, call and response shout-a-longs and poems and stories about historical musical figures and Steve's own experiences - good, bad and sometimes a bit ugly.
Wednesday October 30th
Doors Open at 7.00

There's plenty of audience interaction - you'll clap and stamp your feet, be taught simple harmonies to join in with and hollar back replies to the rousing choruses. A tale of tribulation and salvation and, in the end, the redemptive power of music, literature and Family ...
... a fascinating, at times emotional and, in the end, life-affirming journey!
